What is Andy Ruddick doing now?

Several years back, Andy Roddick deliberately chose to part ways with most of his hard-earned trophies. “I realized that these don’t hold much significance for me,” he confides. “Anyone visiting our home already knows my journey.” Seated on the screened-in porch of his rustic retreat nestled in Cashiers, North Carolina, a serene enclave within the Blue Ridge Mountains, Roddick emanates an air of comfort.

This domicile breathes lived-in warmth, where shoes are welcome, and the need for coasters is an afterthought. Among the few accolades he’s retained, his second-place souvenir from the 2006 US Open rests on the coffee table in the living room, transformed into a drink holder, its surface bearing the marks of cocktail glasses.

Approaching his 41st birthday, Roddick stands as an imposing figure, a solid six-foot-two, bordering on brawny. The encroachment of the “dad bod” has been effectively deterred by his daily exercise regimen—often involving a session on his Peloton bike.

He sporting a casual ensemble of a T-shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap adorned with the logo of Sweetens Cove, the golf course and whiskey brand in Tennessee that he co-owns alongside a consortium that includes Peyton Manning.

His wife, the model and actress Brooklyn Decker, is en route, embarking on the three-hour drive from Charlotte, their primary residence. Meanwhile, their children, seven-year-old son Hank and five-year-old daughter Stevie are immersed in a day camp adventure. For now, it’s just Roddick, myself, the feline companion, and the amiable bulldog Bob Costas, who sniffs curiously at our feet before strolling into the kitchen.

The trophy symbolizing his victory at the 2003 US Open occupies an even more inconspicuous spot than his runner-up platter—nestled unobtrusively in a corner of his home office in Charlotte.

It’s almost as if it’s silently conveying, “That chapter of my life has concluded, and I’ve moved forward.” Indeed, since his unexpected retirement on his 30th birthday in 2012, Roddick has entered into other chapters, exploring fresh passions and ventures. Foremost among these is his role as a father. Beyond that, his endeavours span the realms of business and philanthropy.

He’s also ventured into TV commentary, with stints at Fox Sports and his current position at the Tennis Channel. Yet, despite these subsequent pursuits, the initial chapter of his life persists—a reality underscored by the fact that another American male tennis player has yet to clinch victory at the US Open or any other Grand Slam event. Until that day arrives, he remains in the collective consciousness as “Andy Roddick: The Last to Achieve It.”

Who is Andy Roddick married to?

After fourteen years, the enduring love between Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker shines brightly, evident in their exchange of heartfelt social media posts celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary.

Roddick, the former world No. 1 turned Tennis Channel analyst, chose Twitter as his platform on Monday to honour his partner of nearly fifteen years. “14 years later, no one else I’d want to share this journey with,” wrote the 2003 US Open champion, whose romantic involvement with Decker began in 2007.

“Resilient, caring, ambitious, and tolerant of me most of the time 🙂 I love you, lady.” Decker responded on Instagram with a delightful series of playful selfies, a playful nod to their mutual sense of humour.

“In the next 14 years, may he retain this enthusiasm for taking pictures with me,” quipped the model and actress, who exchanged vows with Roddick in 2009. She added, “Happy Anniversary to my husband, who isn’t on Instagram and will never come across this.”

Roddick bid farewell to professional tennis after the 2012 US Open, now dividing his time between broadcasting, his namesake foundation’s philanthropic efforts, and nurturing his family.

He and Decker welcomed their first child in 2015 and their second two years later. This dynamic power couple shared their initial encounter with the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017, the same year Roddick was inducted.

Amidst laughter, Decker recounted, “It’s a rather amusing story. I hosted a football show for Sports Illustrated, and he watched it weekly. He had his lawyer contact my agent back then. I found it a bit sketchy, as one would, and I didn’t return his call for five months.”

Curiosity led her to investigate, watching his press conference from the 2007 Australian Open, where he exuded dry wit and sarcasm. She remarked, “I thought, ‘That’s pretty funny. He seems like a charmer.’ I finally called him back, and we’ve been together ever since.”

Their togetherness remains a constant, with Roddick frequently appearing on episodes of Tennis Channel Live to stay close to home. However, their journey has been punctuated with joyful moments, including a memorable joint performance on the fifth season of Lip Sync Battle, featuring a cameo from their dear friend Serena Williams.

During an interview with the New York Post, Andy Roddick, hailed as one of the preeminent American male tennis players to wield a racquet, recently offered insights into the more obscure facets of his personal life.

The former holder of the World No. 1 ranking, who joined in matrimony with actress and model Brooklyn Decker in 2009, finds himself as a parent to two children: a six-year-old son named Hank and a four-year-old daughter named Stevie. Of the two, Roddick disclosed that his daughter resembles him most, particularly in his “fiery” temperament.

At 39 years old, he has embraced fatherhood with remarkable ease, although he candidly acknowledged that it can indeed test his patience on occasion. Nevertheless, he finds solace and gratification in the tremendous and “extraordinary” experience of parenthood, which constantly reinforces his integrity in daily life.

Reflecting on his life partner, Decker, the former US Open champion emphasized that she has significantly moulded him into a better individual. He noted her resilience and autonomy, which continue to impress and inspire him.

Bearing an inherently “hyper-motivated” disposition, Roddick expressed his contentment that his wife shares a congruent mindset.

This commonality has cultivated a profound sense of mutual esteem and admiration. As the milestone of his 40th birthday approaches on August 30, Andy Roddick acknowledged his customary indifference to birthdays. Nonetheless, he admitted to a lack of enthusiasm about leaving his thirties behind.

In an ideal scenario, the erstwhile US Open victor would opt for eternal youth, an aspiration sadly beyond his reach.
